The Girona City Council welcomes the new regulations of the Generalitat of Catalonia that establishes that municipalities must have a limit of 10 homes for tourist use per 100 inhabitants.
However, Cristina Andreu has pointed out that the new regulations must go "in parallel with other measures to promote protected housing", such as the Territorial and Sectoral Housing Plan. In any case, the City Council will also have to study how this regulation of the Generalitat affects the one approved by the council in the municipal plenary session last September.
The Barri Vell Special Plan (which includes this neighborhood and part of Mercadal) is the only sector of Girona that would be at the limit, right now, of this 15% limit.
The new regulations of the Generalitat "do not make it clear" whether this limit of 10 homes for tourist use per 100 inhabitants can be carried out by sectors.
However, Andreu has been clear and has pointed out that this new approval allows the City Council to "be more restrictive in some areas" and would take advantage of this instrument.
