In Girona, individual emancipation is becoming a challenge with a 22% increase in the price of renting a studio apartment, with an average of 675 euros. Despite an 18% increase in the renting of rooms in shared flats, with an average of 400 euros, this option is still 69% more affordable than the single studio.
The growing preference for room rentals responds to the demand for cheaper options, especially for those on minimum wages. With a salary of 1,080 euros per month in 14 payments, these individuals have to devote more than 60% of their monthly income to renting a studio apartment in Girona.
This trend is fuelled by a strategy of landlords opting to rent out rooms in order to obtain higher returns, taking advantage of the lack of legal restrictions in this area.
